2009

We start off the 2009 season with a few changes to the ETBC club. First and for most one of our founding members and President for the last three years will not be fishing with us this year. Mr. William Perego has dedicated this year to another tournament circuit. He will still be active in the club, he just will not fish the events. I would personally like to thank Willie for his time and dedication to the ETBC club and I wish him the best of luck with his other tournament.
That  being said I see good things for the ETBC this year. We have elected new officers and changed or added some new club rules. Our first meeting  for 2009 was held The Tuesday before the Toledo Bend Tournament, were we started gearing up for the 2009 season. We have a new President Mr. Wes Moody and I know Wes will do a great job. We have also added a few new members and I would like to welcome them to the club. We remain a small club but we have some heavy hitters so I hope for great things in 2009.

 Mike Oats Takes Sam Rayburn

Congratulations to Mr. Mike Oates (pictured right) on his win at the 2nd Federation tournament of the year held on Lake Sam Rayburn Feb. 21 2009.   The weather was horrible. The wind blew 15-20 mph in the morning from the southeast and then turned and blew just as strong from the Northwest bringing rain with it. Mr. Oates winning stringer came late in the afternoon. Mike fought the tough conditions and brought 18.71 lbs to the scales including a nice 6.42 lbs kicker. Congratulations Mike on a great job way to fight it out.

                              The History of ETBC

We were looking to start a club that helped all the club members develop into better fishermen. Most clubs that I've been associated with have been very "click" oriented. The same guys fish together, no (true) information was shared and everyones fishing ability seemed to stagnate. The whole reason for a club in my opinion is to become a better fishermen. Now this is not to say you go steal your buddy's spot, but to learn and share techniques. We all have strengths and weaknesses so as club members if we can utilize someones strong points to make us all better fishermen then we have accomplished what we set out to do.
After disillusionment with the local club several of us decided to start our own club. In 2006 the
East Texas Bass Crashers  were started. It was a slow start we had to work to get the six people needed to qualify for a B.A.S.S. Federation charter. For me personally I worked so much that year that I didn't even meet half of the guys in the club. Our club president was having a good start until falling ill and missing some key tournaments. We were off to a slow start.
The next year (2007) we seemed to get our act together. We were up to eight club members and all seemed to be good fishermen. We brought in our first sponsor Orange County building materials (OCBM). This was mostly due to the efforts of William Perego and Troy Mercer. We also got sponsorship from Mr. Blitz Bait Co. Our club was on the map. Our Tournament shirts were always an eye catcher at the tournaments and by the end of the year everyone in the Southeast Texas B.A.S.S. Federation new of our club.

The strength and notoriety of our club was due in large part by the outstanding performance of William Perego. As club president "Willie" put in countless hours talking with potential sponsors, or guest speakers to come in and talk at our club meetings. He also had to deal with  B.A.S.S. Southeast Texas Federation Nation to organize Casting Kids Events and host Federation tournaments. And to top it off William won Angle of the Year 2007.

I see a bright future for our club the membership continues to grow, we are currently about twelve members. I believe almost everyone learned and grew as a fishermen and I'm looking forward to a great year in 2008. ETBC are the ones you need to watch out for in the future.

We welcome our newest sponsor
